Tom Fletcher CMG is a Visiting Professor of International Relations at New York University, and Visiting Professor of Diplomatic Practice at the Emirates Diplomatic Academy. He was Downing Street's  foreign policy adviser to three Prime Ministers, (2007-11) and British Ambassador to Lebanon (2011-15). It is in this last role, Ambassador to Lebanon, that most of our friends and members will hold the fondest memories of Tom. His valedictory, the “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” speech was more a poem to the Lebanon he had fallen in love with than a signing off for the archives of the British Foreign Office. Tom blogs as the Naked Diplomat and his book on the future of power and diplomacy Naked Diplomacy will be published on the day of his talk to us.
